Our Story

“Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community.”

Anthony J. D’Angelo

Covering the areas of Pitcorthie, Pitreavie, Middlebank Rise, Masterton Lea and Masterton Park, we are the bridge between the residents and our local authority Fife Council. It is our goal to improve the local area and bring people together to keep the community connected through projects and a wide range of activities throughout the year.

We aim to provide the residents of South Dunfermline information on items that we are covering at our Community Council meetings and give updates on current news in the neighbourhoods.

What started off as Pitcorthie Residents Association about 44 years ago, became Pitcorthie Community Council in 1982 and over the years, has supported the local community within its boundaries in getting amenities to the estate so that it is no longer just a collection of houses. The gala, the newsletter, the playpark, the community centre and the events are all down to the hard work of the volunteer members who keep these going.

Local councillors have always provided guidance and support with the many projects in the past and continue to do so. In 2010, Pitcorthie Community Council officially changed its name to South Dunfermline Community Council to include the new residents in the Eastern Expansion who were within the community council boundary.
